CAPM/PMP certification versus MBA degree?

six sigma

Hey all.

Currently I’m a BA that’s looking to move up through the ranks to Sr BA, PM, manager, director, up and up. I just earned my Greenbelt Six Sigma certification as my company uses that methodology. I was just sticking my head out here to see what people have to say about these certs/degree options. I would look at the CAPM first as it would fit my hour requirements, then gradually move into the PMP cert. But there is the thought about the MBA also. Overkill? Worth the time and money? Any feedback, worthwhile, would be great. Thanks!

You’ll be fine with the PMP. Lately, MBAs are loosing credibility because so many people have them. I would stick with the certifications and maybe a concentrated Master’s degree (if you really want that later on). For now, I recommend focusing on your PMP.
