I am currently working for a large IT company and want to break out of the politics by becoming a contractor. I have strong supply chain management business process and project management skill. was thinking about looking at SAP APO certification. does anybody know what one can earn doing this, and what is the best way to get certified at the lowest cost

There are tons of advices I could give you. The best one is: start as SAP consultant for a consulting firm. They will pay you the training and you will be able later to become a contractor.
