Nopes, it is a metric via which you evaluate the effectiveness of processes defined within the organisation. Six-sigma demands for atmost 3.4 defects only for every one-million opportunities/chances. i.e. only 3.4 mistakes are tolerable for every million tries.

If an organisation is six-sigma that means that its’ process are such designed that it meets the six-sigma criterion.

Six Sigma, thankx to Bill smith and Motorola who pioneered it in 1986, is a system of metric practices for measuring defects and improving quality and a method to reduce defects levels below 3.4!
